Non-profit tech website

Free Geek is a nonprofit community organization that reduces the environmental impact of waste electronics by reusing and recycling donated technology. After being helped by them, I felt the need to help it somehow. That is how I came up with the idea of building a WordPress theme for them. However, before starting coding, I designed a mockup for establishing the design guidelines.

I felt that the current website has some redundant information. I realized that a new structure for the navigation would be interesting for reducing the number of clicks to reaching certain pages, as well as diagnosing possible improvements. At this stage, I used some SEO page rank analyzers to help, like woorank.

Given the structure and what to aim, I designed the mockup focused on the three main goals that the organization has: donations, store, and volunteers.

A longer homepage was choose as a way to distribute the amount of text that the current website has at the home page. The first section has a youtube video for introducing their organization, as well as their location and hours of operation.

By the end of the year, I intend to discuss with the Free Geek team how can I help them, and show the layout I made.

This is the simplified HTML version of this mockup, and this is the link for the Free Geekcurrent website.
